Anxiety Around Coronavirus

Mar 17, 2020

At this time of uncertainty it's easy to see feelings of anxiety and fear creep in and start to take over. I want to help you take action today to feel more positive.

Here are my top tips;

  1. Gain control in the situation as best as you can.

Get to grips with whats making you worried and think about what you can control right now to help. If it’s the children being at home for the next few weeks then something you can control is planning how you days will look. Why not download my free daily planning guide for home where I share an example of a daily schedule.

  1. Have a routine

We know that the brain thrives on routine, repetition and predictability. If you can't carry on with your normal daily routine during this time create a new rhythm. If you're educating your children at home during this time create a visual board showing the order of the day.

3. Emotional and physical support

Mediate, stretch, do yoga or follow a  HIIT workout from you tube in your living room. Adding movement into you day improves your health and mental wellbeing. You can also open the windows and let the air in, embrace nature in your home by bringing some spring flowers inside, release essential oils into the air to create a calm atmosphere or run a bath and pour a glass of wine and read a book as you relax.

4. Think about the good things about self isolation

Do as the Danes do and turn a negative situation into a positive. Self isolating gives you time to rest and catch up on your sleep (which always makes us feel better). You might also take this as an opportunity to learn a new skill (you tube will show you anything from crafting projects, learning the guitar, a new language or cooking skills). Being inside also allows you to appreciate the time to slow down so have a slow and charming breakfast where you light a candle and come together as a family. Don’t rush a cup of tea but take your time and take little sips. Why not handwrite a letter to someone, play a puzzle, go for a walk around your garden and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Remember it's easy to join in with the fear right now but what the world really needs is love and kindness.
